the important thing : Helmet

Helmets are the most important piece of motorcycle equipment you should own. The fact is that helmets save lives and significant number of studies proove this fact. The risk of not wearing a motorcycle helmet increases the risk for head injury by 5 times.

Motorcycle helmets are typically made up of 4 main components, they are:
-->> The outer shell, main function is to diperse the shock energy accross a wider area of the helmet

-->> The shock absorbing lining, inside the outer shell

-->> Inside padding for comfort
-->> The chin strap or some kind of retention system to keep the helmet on your head
There are many types of motorcycle helmets:
-->> bowl-shape, not much of protection other than your brain

-->> fully enclosed helmets - you get the full head and face protection in addition to full protection against the weather
-->> three-quarter or open face helmets - these are just like the bowl-shape but provide a bit more protection of your head, still open face though
When you make a decision to purchase your motorcycle helmet as your next motorcycle accessory take the following into consideration: style, price, which type (bowl-shape, fully enclosed, or three-quarter helmet), paint jobs, comfort, etc. Some helmets offer greater protective options so them might be a bit more expensive but please remember, MOTORCYCLE SAFETY and wearing a HELMET are absolutely most important.
Tips:
1) Make sure your helmet is DOT approved which will have a sticker on the outside of the helmet and a permanent one on the inside.
2) Make sure you have a good fit. When you put the helmet on it shoud feel snug (not tight or loose) and make sure you don't feel uncomfortable where the helmet is pressing your pressure points of your head.
